One of the most exciting events in the art world in Wales, the inaugural Young Welsh Artists – Artistiaid Ifainc Cymru Exhibition is designed to showcase the work of artists under 30 working in Wales.

Launching in November 2020, it will take place annually in November at MOMA Machynlleth.

The exhibition aims to introduce artists from across Wales to one another and to provide a platform for early-career artists to exhibit their work beyond an art school/college setting at the gallery.

Two emerging guest curators, Mari Elin Jones and Lloyd Roderick, have been invited to stage the exhibition:

Mari Elin Jones is a curator, artist and author interested in all aspects of Welsh culture and the environment. She has worked as a curator at The National Library of Wales since 2013 and has been key in staging MAIN exhibitions such as Distillation (Shani Rhys James, 2015), A Welsh Focus on War and Peace (Philip Jones Griffiths, 2015), Mametz (Aled Rhys Hughes, 2016) and Kyffin Williams: Behind the Frame (2018).

Lloyd Roderick is a researcher and curator interested in the visual culture of Wales. He has published in Or Pedwar Gwynt and Art Libraries Journal. He curated his first exhibition, Wales and the Modern Movements Revisited which looked at modernist practice in Wales in the 20th century at the School of Art, Aberystwyth in summer 2019.
