John Meirion Morris from Llanuwchllyn, near Bala, he was one of Wales’ most prominent sculptors and worked in a variety of materials, amalgamating natural, human and other forms with a strong literary or spiritual content.

John was the artist behind the Tryweryn Monument (a maquette can be seen in the exhibition), which he had hoped to build on the shores of Llyn Celyn as a memorial to the flooding of the Tryweryn Valley in 1965 to provide water to Liverpool.
