Mike Parker

The writer and broadcaster, Mike Parker, is this year’s recipient of the Glyndŵr Award for an Outstanding Contribution to the Arts in Wales.

Mike was born in Birmingham but after writing the inaugural Rough Guide to Wales he was so inspired that he uprooted to live here. He has had a varied career, which at one point saw him working as a stand-up comedian. Wales has been his muse, his love and his torment, which he has explored on TV and radio, and in books such as Neighbours From Hell?, Real Powys, The Greasy Poll, and his latest, On the Red Hill, described in The Guardian by Simon Callow as “extraordinary, ambitious, many-layered”. Mike lives with his partner Peredur near Darowen.

The author Manon Steffan Ros will talk about Mike and present the award.
