Drawing is an integral part Gerald Dewsbury’s artistic practice… It has a harmonising effect on the brain when one can just let feelings and thoughts flow while not having to worry about colour relationships and the like. Quite often he will draw just to get to know his subject; to learn and to appreciate the make up of certain landscapes or one of the multitude of minutiae found therein. Drawing something is a fantastic way of learning… Alternatively they are to render an idea from the mind visible.

This set of drawings explores some of the themes Gerald has been looking at over many years.
