These fictional novels were inspired by the emigration of numerous people from the Llanbrynmair area during the 18th and 19th centuries, as they sought to forge new lives in America. It follows the intergenerational struggles of the Bebb family as they fought to conquer a brutal wilderness, wild animals and hostile people. Once established, they faced the headwinds of slavery, civil war, and political corruption whilst the family moved steadily west across the untamed land.

Dave Morgan was born, bred, and educated in Machynlleth and still has many close links to the area. He served in the Police Service as a career detective, with his last five years spent as a Detective Chief Inspector on the Major Investigations Unit, leading over twenty murder investigations. His main hobbies are travel, fly fishing and researching his family history.
