Bob Guy  (1947 – 2023) studied painting and printmaking at Kingston University and has been living and working in Mid-Wales since 1973. He started to specialise in wood engraving, a technique originally used (in the 18th and 19th century) in commercial illustration, and revived in the 20th century as a suitable medium for small fine art presses. This tradition is continued with great enthousiasm by the Society of Wood Engravers. He was elected a member of Society of Wood Engravers in 2010.

Bob liked to collaborate with poets and bards, like George Miller, Childe Roland, and Robin Hughes, resulting in hand made books (Bob was also a member of the online collective www.artistsbooksonline.com)

Bob has exhibited in many places in Wales: Y Capel, Llangollen, Denbigh and Rhyl libraries, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, and previously in MOMA, but also further afield: North Wall Arts Centre, Oxford, Bankside Gallery, London, and Climate Gallery, New York.

He found inspiration in the poetry of daily life and Welsh myth, and in the many walks we took in the Welsh countryside. He has work in numerous private collections, as well as the British Library, the National Library of Wales, and the Ashmolean Museum.

Retrospective exhibitions took place this year in Oriel Y Dolydd, Llanfyllin, and Oriel Davies, Newtown.
