From an original screenplay by Alan Bennett, The Choral is a British historical drama set in Yorkshire during World War I. At a time when nearly all the town’s young men have gone off to fight, the local choral society finds itself depleted and desperate to carry on its cherished tradition.

With their previous choirmaster enlisted in the army, the committee appoints the cultured and enigmatic Dr. Henry Guthrie, portrayed by Ralph Fiennes, despite rumours about his time in Germany and unorthodox personal life.

Blending drama, period detail, and choral music with richly drawn characters, The Choral offers a view of how a community seeks hope and connection through song in one of history’s most tumultuous moments.
