The Tabernacle Art Competition is highly valued by amateur and professional artists alike. It provides the opportunity for over 200 artists to exhibit their work in MOMA Machynlleth’s galleries each year.

Due to ongoing restrictions, this year the competition will be displayed online with the winning entries then displayed at MOMA from 25 August to 18 September. Details below

Tabernacle Art Competition Online

With some restrictions expected to remain in place over the summer months, we have decided to hold the 2021 Tabernacle Art Competition as an online competition. The rules will be similar to our usual competition, but instead of asking you to bring the works to us to be judged, we want you to send us a digital jpeg photograph of the work. Our judges will use the digital jpeg to decide the winning artists who will then be asked to send or deliver the physical work to us to be shown in an exhibition of winning works. The remaining entries will be shown as an online exhibition on our website.

The theme for the 2021 Tabernacle Art Competition is ‘Love’

SPECIFICATIONS

Artists can enter one piece of new work inspired by the theme ‘Love’. (Works consisting of more than one part (i.e. triptych) must be rigidly attached as one item)

The work can be in any medium, including photography, and should be two dimensional. Light boxes or works requiring an electrical supply will not be accepted.

Submitted images for competition entries must be high resolution (minimum of 2000 pixels on the shortest side), and should include the frame if one is present.

All works entered to the competition must be for sale. (For logistical reasons, only works that are exhibited physically will be offered for sale)

If selected as a winning work to be displayed physically, the work must be suitable for hanging by mirror plates on each side. Metal frames or clip frames will not be accepted. If you are unsure what mirror plates are, please contact us.

If selected as a winning work to be displayed physically, you must be able to get the work to us between Monday 5th August and Wednesday 18th August 2021 for hanging.

Please note: Due to the quick turnaround between judging and the start of the exhibition, all works must be framed and/ or ready to be hung by the closing date.
