Theme: On a Windy Day

Artists can enter one piece of new work inspired by the theme. Works consisting of more than one part (i.e. triptych) must be rigidly attached as one item. The work can be in any medium, including textile and photography (AI generated work is not allowed), and should be two dimensional. Light boxes or works requiring an electrical supply will not be accepted.

The work must be suitable for hanging by mirror plates on each side. We will use our own painted mirror plates if the work is selected for exhibition. Metal frames or clip frames will not be accepted. If you are unsure what mirror plates are, please contact us. Please remove all fittings. All works must be for sale.

ENTRY FEE

Adults: £17.50, Under 18s: £5. Entry fee can be paid online at moma.cymru, by card, or cash.

After your entry fee has been paid you will receive an information pack which includes a copy of these rules, an entry form, and a yellow label to attach to the back of the work.

SIZE

Maximum size, including frame, 36 x 48 inches (914 x 1219mm).
This means the longest edge must not exceed 48 inches (1219mm), and the shortest edge must not exceed 36 inches (914mm).

PREPARATION FOR SUBMISSION

The work must have the following information written on the back: Full name, address and telephone number of the artist, a short title and the price of the work including commission.

Please complete all three parts of the yellow label. The three ‘Work No’ boxes should be left blank. Please do not detach any sections of the label. The label must be attached to the top centre of the rear of the work by thin string (long enough for the label to hang over the front of the work).

Please complete the supplied entry form. The form can be returned to us with the work or in advance. If we receive the form in advance this will help speed up the process when we take delivery of the work.

DELIVERY

Works must be delivered to MOMA Machynlleth between 10am and 4pm, Monday 10 June to Friday 14 June 2024. You may send your work via post or carrier. Works delivered in person must have all wrappings removed on arrival. No works will be accepted outside these dates and times.

Good care will be taken of all works submitted, but MOMA Machynlleth cannot take responsibility for any damage or loss, however caused. Artists are advised to insure their work against damage or theft.

JUDGING

A panel of judges will be selected by MOMA Machynlleth. They will select a strictly limited number of works for inclusion in the exhibition. The judges’ decision is final.

NOTIFICATION

Please supply a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your entry form. The bottom part of the entry label will be returned to you in the envelope to notify you if your work has been selected for exhibition. Please keep hold of this as you will need it to collect the work. Unsuccessful entries will also be notified in the same way.

Prize-winners will be notified. The exhibition will officially be opened with a ‘private view’ and prize giving ceremony at noon on Saturday 22 June 2024. All entrants and their family and friends are welcome to attend.

EXHIBITION

The selected works will be on view from 22 June to 4 September 2024, and will form part of the Machynlleth Festival.

SALE OF WORK

If a work is sold a commission of 1/3 is deducted by MOMA Machynlleth. If you are registered for VAT please let us know. MOMA Machynlleth operates an optional staged payment scheme called Picture Plan which asks for a 10% deposit and full payment within a year.

Artists will be notified when work is sold and payments will be made after the end of the exhibition or on completion of the Picture Plan payments. A work will not be released to the purchaser until it has been paid for.

COLLECTION OF WORK

If your work is not selected for exhibition please collect it from MOMA Machynlleth before 28 June 2024.

All unsold work from the exhibition is to be collected during the week 9 – 13 September 2024, between 10am and 4pm. We regret we cannot arrange the return of works by post or courier.

Please note: MOMA Machynlleth reserves the right to dispose of uncollected work after 13 September 2024.
