Jane Duff is a painter and a walker who seeks out wild places in search of peace, silence and the spirituality of unspoilt landscapes. Her love and knowledge of her native north and mid – Wales is evident and she often paints en plein air taking her canvasses and sketch books beside the estuaries , the seashore , high up on the mountainsides, to mountain lakes and rivers and to paint the cliff faces especially of Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy as well as further north in Eryri national park. She paints emotionally and intuitively, capturing shafts of sunlight and passing storms using large brushes and rags most usually in oils. She has exhibited her work widely in the UK with five solo exhibitions including ‘Song of the Wild ‘at Oriel Mon in 2024 and recently in joint shows with Wales Contemporary and the Royal Society of British Artists and the Ing Discerning Eye at the Mall galleries where she was awarded the Welsh regional Prize.
