A special exhibition that records and celebrates the wealth of Eryri\u2019s landscape names through the medium of the age-old craft of wool weaving.<\/p>\n

Historic place names capture the spirit of places, spark the imagination and sometimes vividly conjure everyday life, the struggles, battles and glories of times gone by.<\/p>\n

Within six unique woollen throws, a selection of the hundreds of historic landscape names gathered through the power of local knowledge at sessions held across Eryri are recorded and celebrated.
\nDesigned by the weaver and textile designer, Anna Pritchard, each throw represents a particular area of Eryri with its own unique design reflecting some of the special features of their respective areas.<\/p>\n

Anna specialised in weaving at Manchester University and further refined her craft under the guidance of prominent weavers. From her small studio overlooking the Carneddau, she designs contemporary textiles for the home inspired by familiar shapes and objects associated with our cultural heritage. Being surrounded by nature\u2019s colours ignites her imagination, out of which her designs are born.<\/p>\n

The throws were commissioned by the Eryri National Park Authority as part of its wider work of gathering and recording landscape names within the National Park boundary so that they are celebrated and safeguarded for the future.<\/p>\n
