Through painting Guto Morgan explores and re-evaluates ideas relating to placeness and time. In his first solo exhibition at MOMA Machynlleth, Morgan presents a series of paintings that focus on cynefin and the evocative landscape of Ystrad Meurig. In this new body of work, he employs practical strategies toward new avenues of making, embracing not only the specificity of material, but also alchemy and serendipity along the way. For Morgan painting is manifest from a place of openness, from one\u2019s recollections and corporeal experiences: a pluralistic soup where memories, emotions and ideas collide and synthesise new things.
