An exhibition of folios, paintings and prints which explore the Celtic Rainforests of North Wales and the Sub-Antarctic Forest of South Chile<\/p>\n

Since 2010 we have met each season to witness and record through drawing, painting and writing our experiences of being in nature.\u00a0 This has enriched our practice as artists.<\/p>\n

Included in this exhibition are the folios :<\/p>\n

Moss Garden – Snowdonia Rainforest \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>An edition of five unique folios of paintings, relief prints and digital bi-lingual text of selected mosses and liverworts found in Ceunant Llennyrch near Maentwrog, Snowdonia.\u00a0 In each season we made paintings of place, sound and habitat in the woodland and later in our studios we made microscope paintings responding to the bryophytes collected.<\/p>\n

Hafod Woodland \u2013 Snowdonia Rainforest<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Two unique folios of paintings and digital bi-lingual text which record, over two years, the changes to woodland as it is thinned and animals are introduced to create a more diverse woodland pasture.\u00a0 We later painted small samples of plants from each habitat and season under the microscope.<\/p>\n

Isla Navarino \u2013 Sub-Antarctic Forest<\/strong> \u00a0\u00a0An edition of four folios of paintings with digital text in English, Welsh, Spanish and Yahgan made during our residency at the Cape Horn International Centre, Chile.\u00a0 We spent time walking, painting, drawing and making notes as a response to Sea, Forest, Water and the Plants and Birds that inhabit them on this remote island.<\/p>\n

Each folio consists of work on watercolour, Somerset book and Chinese papers measuring 25x25cm.\u00a0 The exhibition also includes paintings related to the folios on canvas and paper.<\/p>\n

In the spring of 2023 we spent time walking and sketching in the designated Celtic rainforest at Cwm Einion<\/strong>, near Machynlleth.\u00a0 We later made two collaborative print and paint pieces using this as a starting point. These will also be in the exhibition.<\/p>\n
