Mike Parker<\/h4>\n

The writer and broadcaster, Mike Parker, is this year\u2019s recipient of the Glynd\u0175r Award for an Outstanding Contribution to the Arts in Wales.<\/p>\n

Mike was born in Birmingham but after writing the inaugural Rough Guide to Wales he was so inspired that he uprooted to live here. He has had a varied career, which at one point saw him working as a stand-up comedian. Wales has been his muse, his love and his torment, which he has explored on TV and radio, and in books such as Neighbours From Hell?, Real Powys, The Greasy Poll, and his latest, On the Red Hill, described in The Guardian by Simon Callow as \u201cextraordinary, ambitious, many-layered\u201d. Mike lives with his partner Peredur near Darowen.<\/p>\n

The author Manon Steffan Ros will talk about Mike and present the award.<\/p>\n

Getting Tickets<\/h4>\n

We are hopeful that it will be possible to welcome audience members into the Tabernacle for the live events taking place there. However, as it stands, it looks possible that due to social distancing, audience numbers will be smaller than we are used to. Tickets will therefore operate on a ballot basis. <\/u><\/p>\n

From 10am<\/em> on Monday 12 July<\/em>, to 4pm<\/em> on Monday 19 July<\/em>, you will be able to enter a ballot for tickets using the \u2018GOING<\/em>\u2019 button on the right.<\/p>\n

If you are successful in the ballot, we will then confirm how you can make payment for your tickets. Please note that tickets to this event are \u00a310.<\/h5>\n

Please make sure that you read our Festival FAQ\u2019s before you apply for tickets.<\/p>\n

For those not successful in securing tickets, tickets are also available to watch this event online at 7.30pm on Friday 6 August.<\/p>\n
